Can a 14 year old unaccompanied minor fly alone from Fresno to Manila?
I was wondering if a 14 year old unaccompanied minor can fly back on his return flight from a round trip ticket from Manila to Fresno. He will be accompanied with his mother and sister from manila to fresno, but will fligh back alone on the return trip due to the fact that his mother and sister will stay in the final destination. Is it possible and what airlines can be used? thankyou

Check with the airlines.

Depends on the airline and if its a direct flight or not Most will not allow a 14 yr old to travel on an international flight alone

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. There is no direct flight from Fresno to Manila. Your family has to go with the child to SFO (San Francisco International Airport) and provide paper work such has birth certificate. etc. Make sure your family has time to arrange this, you might even have to go to the Philippine Airlines office in San Francisco.

Yes, he can fly unaccompanied.. but in some cases there are certain restrictions.. like if the connecting airline do not have an interline agreement or if they are not partners, if there is an embargo, and if the flight is a red-eye. These are things you should look into. Call the airlines.

All major airlines offer the facility of escorting and flying minors. Usually, this service is offered free and includes taking care of the minor during the flight as well as completing immigration and customs formalities at the airport of origin and destination. Such care is also accorded in transit, if the flight has an intermediate stop, regardless of the duration. Children escorted by airline crew are usually well taken care of and pampered with freebies such as toys and story books etc. Most major airlines offer the service of flying minors with the extras included, free. Others might charge a nominal service free, which will be most often included in the fare itself. You can try KLM Royal Dutch Airlines from their US points to Manila and some local carrier from Fresno to the airport served by KLM. The Dutch carrier has an excellent tie-up with several US based carriers.

Yes because when I was 6.. i flew to philippines from new york AL0NE. Although it was scary, the flight attendents gave me extra attention and pampering. There will always be someone watching and taking care of the minor, they will help with the stop-overs/transferring, immigration, boarding, everything.

Yup--you can do it on PAL (there is no stop-over on the SFO-MNL flight).
